<p>Our ligaments, tendons, discs and skin are made up of forms of collagen, one of the most important structural proteins in our bodies. This gives our tissues the ability to heal, its elasticity, its integrity and its strength, allowing us to have strong and healthy joints and skin which will put up with the stresses life puts upon them. Collagen is also responsible for the strength and integrity of our arteries and many other bodily structures. Human populations show great variation in collagen function from those who are very stiff jointed to those who are very mobile jointed or &#8220;double jointed&#8221;.</p>
<p>An inheritable abnormality in the synthesis and metabolism of the collagen proteins is the cause of Ehlers-Danloss syndrome which affects the strength and function of the protein. EDS can occur in at least ten forms, but EDS Three is closely related to benign joint hypermobility syndrome, which is benign because the collagen changes do not affect important structures such as the arteries. Extreme joint hypermobility is the commonest sign with smooth skin and a poor ability for skin healing, with wider and thinner scars than normal.</p>
<p>The typical signs and symptoms of joint hypermobility syndrome are a hyperextensible skin, hypermobile joints, tendency to dislocations, fragile tissues, poor wound healing and a tendency to bruise easily. Chronic joint and limb pain is also common and many sufferers live with constant and multiple pain complaints. Patients show many abnormal muscle balances and have difficulty stabilising their joints appropriately, causing incorrect muscle uses which can lead to pain problems. Functional limitation is common in this group, who cannot participate in contact or vigorous sports without significant joint injuries and pain.</p>
<p>Patient education for sufferers from benign joint hypermobility syndrome is vital if they are to learn to manage the condition through their lives. The joints will not tolerate significant strains and stresses so end range posture should be avoided as this strains the ligaments and can give pain. Repeated lifting of heavy objects is also likely to be unhelpful. Arthritic patients practice joint protection to manage their condition and this is also important for hypermobile patients, so dislocating a shoulder at a party for fun or getting into extreme positions should be avoided. Strong joint stretching may be unwise as in yoga as may activities with a high risk of joint, tissue or skin damage.</p>
<p>Physiotherapists manage the multiple joint and pain problems which hypermobility patients present with. Acute injury is more likely to occur with less trauma and more easily if the person undertakes vigorous exercise of any kind. Shoulder problems are particularly common in hypermobiles as the shoulder is a naturally mobile and unstable joint in normal situations let alone when the ligaments are unusually lax. Keeping the large ball of the arm bone centred on the small socket is a challenge to the muscular control and abnormal muscle patterning is common. Patients may habitually dislocate dislocate on movements, perpetuating the pain problem.</p>
<p>Spinal pain is common in hypermobility perhaps secondary to the difficulty in keeping good stability of the joints as forces act upon them. Gentle mobilizations can be performed for local problems but manipulation is likely to be unwise. General exercises to keep the joint moving can be helpful but end range and stretching exercises should be avoided. Gentle weight training and core stability work may help stabilise the spine and other joints, increasing the muscle tone to hold joints in their mid ranges and prevent excessive play. The knees may bend back excessively and suffer arthritic change in time, so work on the hamstrings to counteract this in standing is an option. Often patients need to work on several areas, maintaining muscle strength and control.</p>
<p>All postures and activities are a challenge to a patient with hypermobility as unsuitable stresses are very easy to apply, causing pain. The patterns of muscle activity are abnormal when the joints are under load, pushing them into end range positions where the ligaments and capsules suffer from strains. Physiotherapy retraining of poor muscle balance can be helpful but patients need to be constantly vigilant and work at their weaknesses persistently. The most important factor overall is patient education as the condition is a long term one and all physical activities challenge the joints.</p>

<p>The way that you design your workout routine and how you choose to keep yourself in shape has a lot to do with your age. Some people aged above 40 use age as their excuse for unhealthy lifestyle and to skip workouts</p>
<p>Your age should not be used as a carte blanche permission slip not to exercise and stay fit. If you approach weight training, diet and work outs the correct way you can maintain a remarkably healthy and fit body for many years, regardless of your age. Weightlifting and bodybuilding routines can be used to increase bone density, lose weight, become healthier and more fit, and reshape your body.</p>
<p>It is no secret that people who keep physically fit also feel better about themselves and about life in general. People who exercise also experience the release of endorphins from the brain, which helps, maintain a sense of happiness and well-being.</p>
<p>Starting with the basics, once you reach the age of 40 you have to make some changes to your workout, however it doesn&#8217;t mean that you have to act the victim of false truths regarding aging. When people get older, we have to stretch and warm up before we exercisng because are muscles and joints become less limber.</p>
<p>A time frame of 15 minutes is needed for stretching routines so you can increase flexibilty and lessen the chance for muscle pain, sprains or other damage. Your muscles will become better conditioned the more complete you stretch.</p>
<p>Now you should do fifteen minutes worth of cardio exercises on an elliptical training machine, a stair stepper or an exercise bike. You are not attempting to reach your limit with this one; however, you do want your heart rate to increase and to continue to develop your limberness and flexibilty. This exercise will let your body know that you are serious about doing some work.</p>
<p>If you are doing circuit training or a free weight routine, have a quick run through without the stress of heavy weights, and then follow this brief warm up by doing reps with the appropriate weights,the next step should be to work out with light weights.</p>
<p>When using the pyramid system, you add reps but use less weight, then you start adding weight and decreasing the reps, which is how a lot of the bodybuilders do their workouts. Pay constant attention to your posture. This method of weightlifting has great success for those who want to add muscle and bulk to their bodies. Even if it means decreasing the weights or the amount of repititions, correct posture must be your main consideration. This maximizes your results and reduces your risk of injury.</p>
<p>You should train weights for about 30-45 minutes per session for at least 4 days a week. When you conclude your session of weight training, you may choose to do the cardio session again in order to tone your lungs and hearts; it&#8217;s also a great way to wind down.</p>

<p>Recently I found myself getting a little bored with my workout routine.  As a middle-aged woman with children, it&#8217;s important for me to not only exercise but to do it in a way that fits my life. Also, I was finding it hard to go to the gym due to other demands on my time.</p>
<p>I asked a friend of mine who is very fit what she does to stay in shape, and she said that she works out almost every day by running in place on a small trampoline that she keeps in her living room.  I guess I&#8217;m the last one to find out, but one of the best ways to have fun and get fit at the same time is with trampoline workouts.</p>
<p>Unlike other forms of exercise, trampolines give you a workout that is less risky and more effective. Popular exercises, like running can be a bit destructive to the body, leaving you with some all too common joint and muscle problems affecting your feet and your knees.</p>
<p>Conversely, you can enjoy a much safer trampoline exercise regimen. The trampoline permits the absorption of the energy created by the repeated jarring activity. Therefore, you can benefit from a complete workout without worrying about the problem of your feet striking unyielding surfaces.</p>
<p>Everyone knows that it&#8217;s hard to keep children occupied and entertained. However, putting a trampoline in the backyard will keep kids busy for hours at a time.  While they&#8217;re having so much fun, kids don&#8217;t even know that they&#8217;re exercising at the time. Encouraging children to combine fun and exercise helps them to become healthy and active adults.</p>
<p>Many people are used to seeing very large trampolines in the backyards of friends and neighbors. When I was a boy my neighbor Bobby C. had a 16 foot trampoline, and Bobby had the most friends in the neighborhood!  These large trampolines are great fun and exercise for both children and adults</p>
<p>But trampolines come in a variety of sizes.  Many people find that a smaller trampoline with a handle makes for an ideal piece of home exercise equipment. A smaller trampoline can easily be carried, and stores away easily when not in use.</p>
<p>Using my trampoline every day helps me to feel energized and ready to go throughout the day. Everyone knows that exercise is an important part of staying healthy, but it can be hard to find the right  workout routine that fits your needs.  I feel very lucky that my friend passed on this great tip to me about trampolines, and look forward to a lifetime of staying fit and having fun at the same time.</p>

<p>Few people know this but there is a right way to wash your hair to get it properly clean. And by washing your hair properly will have a great impact on the bounce and shine of you hair. But the chances are very high that you are probably washing you hair all wrong, and consequently not getting the great looking hair that you could have.</p>
<p><b>Step 1.</b> - Begin. Start by giving your hair a good brushing before you get into the shower. This will reduce hair breakage, help loosen dirt and keep to a minimum the number of hair caught in your shower drain. After you have finished brushing, you need to thoroughly and completely wet your hair using warm water (not hot). To get a good wash you need to wet your hair well as washing your hair with dry hair is hard.</p>
<p><b>Step 2.</b> - Adding shampoo. Something that people often do is to use far too much shampoo when washing their hair. Usually they will just squeeze a good handful into their palm and then begin scrubbing away. This is definitely not the right way to wash your hair. First make sure that you are using very high quality hair care products (using the right product for your hair type) and just add a smallish amount to the palm of your hand.</p>
<p><b>Step 3.</b> - How to wash your hair properly. Massaging/scrubbing too vigorously and not leaving shampoo on long enough, are the two main mistakes people usually make when washing their hair. After you have applied the shampoo to your hair, the proper way to wash it is too gently massage your hair and scalp. Giving your hair a &#8216;good scrub&#8217; will not make your hair any cleaner and could damage your scalp. After massaging your scalp, shampoo can be left in your hair for 5 minutes to get a good clean.</p>
<p><b>Step 4.</b> - Rinse and Repeat. Now that your hair has had a good shampooing, it&#8217;s time to get all of that dirt, grime and shampoo lather out of your hair. When you come to rinse your hair, it&#8217;s important to give your hair a really good rinsing. While it may look like all of the shampoo has been rinsed out, there can still be plenty of product left in your hair. Once you have rinsed, there is absolutely no harm in washing your hair a second time. When your hair squeaks, you know it&#8217;s clean.</p>
<p>You can make a big difference to the look and the feel of your hair when you begin washing it properly. It&#8217;s easy to do, just go through the 4 steps outlined above and you will have clean and healthy looking in no time, every time. And if you use top quality hair products that salon a professional uses, you will really begin to notice the difference and be pleased with how healthy and clean looking your hair can become.</p>

<p>Do you think you will never abuse your children? Think again. Depriving them from eating fish by simply not including it in their daily diet would most likely mean abuse as well.</p>
<p>Well, maybe because you really just don&#8217;t want fish in your dishes. But that does not mean you can escape conviction. You are already grown up. You don&#8217;t need to get away from the consequences of your actions because you know that you are what you eat. But your children do not know yet the consequences of not eating fish. And because you know the possible problems by doing so, it is almost a sin not letting them have what their body needs.</p>
<p>Put an end to such drama. Let&#8217;s just pretend that you want to change everything and that you want to introduce fish to your child&#8217;s diet. The question is on how you will work on it.</p>
<p>Based from experience, I can say that the only way to have your kids do what you say is to act it up on your own. That is, teach by example. Children tend to imitate what their parents do and this is manifested until they are in their teenage years.</p>
<p>At an early age, the best way to teach your children to eat fish is to start eating it too. You might not want its fishy taste, but that&#8217;s because the fish you have probably bought is not fresh or was not prepared properly or you are not yet used to the flavor. You can do something about it. Here&#8217;s how:</p>
<p>Fish is fish and it will never ever taste like pork or chicken. If that is how you want to put it. The way it will taste &#8220;fishy&#8221; would mean buying fish that are not fresh. Freshness can create a great impact on the fish taste. And so, it is important that you only buy the freshest fish in order for you to enjoy its taste.</p>
<p>Try several recipes in a fish cookbook. Do this until you and your family have found the right fish recipe.</p>
<p>Studies show that it is best to work on mild tasting fishes first. Don&#8217;t start with the salmon even if it has the highest content of omega 3 fatty acids. It&#8217;s best you start with sea bass or the grouper first. Eventually, you and your family will get used to the fish taste and will soon appreciate salmon.</p>
<p>Getting your kids to eat fish and hitting it all right from the very start can make a big impact. In our own experience, we started introducing fish to our children when they were just 6 months old. We gave them fish oil on a spoon. By then, they are already chewing the capsules on their own. And now, fish is definitely one of their favorite foods. And so, we are confident that whenever we go out, there is 80% probability that they will order fish.</p>
<p>And even if your kids are old enough to know what they like and to stick with what they have been used to, such as pot pies, pizzas, and TV dinners, you can still do something about it. Just follow the instructions I have given earlier and combine them with love. Keep in mind that you are doing this because you love them. And by the time that there are no other foods on the table but fish, they will soon give in.</p>
<p>Just remember, you are doing this because you want them to be healthy and live life longer. So why don&#8217;t you give these suggestions a try? Keep in mind that eating fish influences your child&#8217;s behavioral development as well. And you know that if everything goes well, you will benefit from them too. Just teach your kids to eat fish. In the end, you and your children will be happy you did.</p>

<p>In order to fuel life, our body needs a constant supply of three major macronutrients: carbohydrates, fats, and protein.  Carbohydrates and fats help to supply our bodies mostly with energy.  Protein however is a bit different.</p>
<p>Proteins are different because they are composed of chains of nitrogen.  This is further divided into little units called amino acids - and these are the basic building blocks of muscle.  Amino acids also serve as an essential source of dietary nitrogen, which is an essential element for your body.</p>
<p>These amino acids are the building blocks of lean muscle.  This is where whey protein enters the picture.  Whey supplies all of the essential amino acids and digests very quickly - usually within 30 minutes.  Whey protein is also very inexpensive and, especially chocolate whey, can taste great.</p>
<p>Why is it important to take whey protein after you workout?  After you workout, your body is highly sensitive to insulin.  Insulin helps to shuttle macronutrients to your muscles instead of fat cells.  This sensitivity declines within an hour or two after you workout.</p>
<p>During this period after you workout, it is very important to get as many macronutrients to your muscles as possible.  You really want to build up your glycogen reserves and muscles so that you can get stronger and recover faster. This means that you can hit the gym quicker and get results faster.</p>

<p>There isn&#8217;t a single newspaper or magazine that does not carry research news on the amazing health benefits of fish oil for the heart. Most doctors and nutritionists recommend it. Health trainers and exercise buffs recommend it too. And lately, my vet has also recommended the use of fish oil capsules for the heart health of my chocolate Labrador, Phyto.</p>

<p>In my own point of view, this makes it clear that fish oil for heart health is essential. But it may be interesting to know how much is needed? Recommendations usually suggest 5 or more servings of oily, cold water fish a week. It can greatly help enhance your heart health, but sometimes it may fall short. Studies however recommend that 1 to 3 grams of fish oil daily is enough for a healthy cardiovascular system.</p>
<p>A sure way that you ensure getting enough is by supplementing your diet with pure omega 3 fish oil capsules which can surely give you all eight naturally occurring omega 3 fatty acids.</p>

<p>There are some common misconceptions when it comes to building muscle for a solid chest. As with any area of the body it take disciplined work of the pectorals to achieve that desired chiseled look. Although knocking out heavy bench presses is the only way most people think this can be done, this is not the case. To get a fully refined look on your chest there are other exercises you need to use.</p>
<p>To build a well defined chest you should add the exercises below to your routine.</p>
<p>Low Cable crossovers are an inner pectoral exercise, the key is the correct amount of tension. High Cable crossovers will also work the difficult to reach inner Pectorals.</p>
<p>The inner pecs are also given a good workout with close-grip bench presses, and they also give a good workout to the triceps. Wide grip bench presses will give yoru outer pectorals a good workout.</p>
<p>The inner pectorals can also be given a good workout with dumbbell flyers. Alternate this on incline, decline, and flat bench. Dips, depending on elbow position, you can work either the inner or the outer Pecs. </p>
<p>When you vary your routines with these exercises it will help to prevent you from reaching a plateau in your training. You must remember to add enough rest between your workouts, and eat enough to make your chest grow.</p>
<p>When you are building muscle, nutrition is as important as weight lifting. When you lift weights, you are actually tearing muscle tissue. The muscles are repaired with what food put into your body. Extra vitamins and minerals are essential when you&#8217;re exercising regularly.</p>
<p>Water is also important for any workout routine. Water is needed to keep you hydrated, process waste materials and transport nutrients to your cells. Along with all of these, water acts as a cushion for the joints and offers protection for the important internal organs. It is important to increase your daily fluid intake, as intensive workouts can easily deplete vital fluid levels.</p>
<p>Your body regenerates and heals itself while you are sleeping, this means that plenty of quality sleep is needed to prevent your efforts in the gym going to waste. Muscles are also around 80% water and they will not grow if you don&#8217;t drink enough of it.</p>
<p>Combine all of these elements and you will quickly build your muscles and have the strong, toned chest you desire. Just remember you need a good workout routine, plenty of sleep and a diet filled with the right foods.</p>
